
RESOLUTION
BY MAJORITY LEADER MCDOW:
Whereas, many community activists in the City of Yonkers have worked in the City to help others, and
Whereas, an example of this is the late Clayton Lebouef, and
Whereas, Clayton Lebouef entered political life in Yonkers in the 1960s and advocated for ‘the little people’ – those that could not advocate for themselves – and also served as President of the Afro-American Civic Association, and
Whereas, Clayton Lebouef was well known for starting a ‘Black Town Hall’, a public access Cable program called ‘Let’s Talk About It’ and was a member of Samuel H. Dow Post #1017, and
Whereas, the family of Clayton Lebouef has requested that Wells Avenue between North Broadway and Warburton be honorarily renamed for him, to recognize him for the work that he accomplished during his lifetime, and
Whereas, Council Rules implemented in January 2006 require a public hearing take place, for such a request.
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of Yonkers hereby directs the City Clerk to set a public hearing date for the consideration of a street renaming for the late Clayton Lebouef.
Be it further resolved, that barring any unforeseen circumstance, a street renaming ceremony may thereafter be scheduled.
